07/07/2017-'Arduous Serpent' proves just a bit more arduous this year!
The annual exercise 'Arduous Serpent', to which the Defence Forces are invited to field a team, took place again last weekend in the UK. This year, facing stiff competition from local as well as Norwegian and Canadian teams, our lads came fifth out of a total of 22 teams. Very well done to all!

02/03/2017-Dr Michael Walsh (Colonel Retired)
It is with great sadness that the ISMM has learned of the death today of Dr Michael Walsh, retired Colonel and previous Director of the Medical Corps in the 1990s. A long-serving Medical Officer who first served overseas in the Congo, he was until recently to be found working as a GP in St.Bricin's Hospital.He will be greatly missed by all here in the society who knew and worked alongside him.
24/01/2017-Dr PJ Fox, UCD Class of 1935,(1910-?)
The ISMM recently received a request for assistance from London's Imperial War Museum in tracing any biographical details on Dr PJ Fox, a UCD medical graduate, for a forthcoming exhibition. Dr Fox was a Major in the Britsh Army's RAMC in 1945 when he had the misfortune to be among the first medical staff to reach the notorious Bergen-Belsen concentration camp following it's liberation. Remarkably, an interview which Dr Fox gave to camera shortly after the liberation of the camp is readily accessible Here... He is to be seen at the 4.40min mark. The ISMM are anxious to ensure that this irishman receives due recognition for his work during some of Europe's darkest hours and request that anyone with any knowledge of Dr Fox or his next of kin contact us at our email address info@ismm.ie
